Sex like wine gets better with age, says study
April 20, 2006
April (foodconsumer.org) - Gender parity between
men and women in Western countries plays a role in influencing sexual
satisfaction in elderly people, suggests an international study
conducted by researchers at the University of Chicago. The findings
of the study appear in the April issue of the journal Archives of
Sexual Behavior.
The study, titled "Global Study of Sexual Attitudes and Behaviors",
surveyed about 27,500 people in 29 countries aged between 40 to
80 years and included 13,882 women and 13,618 men. All participants
were at least 40 years old. The drug company Pfizer funded this
study.
University of Chicago's Edward Laumann, PhD, and colleagues report
that men rated their sexual well being or satisfaction higher than
women regardless of their location and cultural background. All
participants were asked to complete a survey on their sexual well
being.
