Viagra ads start getting frisky
New York, NY, Aug. 18 (UPI) -- The New York ad agency that promotes Pfizer's Viagra erectile dysfunction medication has launched a decidedly frisky campaign for the popular blue pill.
The suggestive tone of the campaign is the first from the brand's new creative agency for general advertising, McCann Erickson Worldwide, and contrasts with the more sedate approach used for most of the six years Viagra has been on the market, the International Herald Tribune reported Wednesday.
Viagra, which once had 100 percent of the market for erectile dysfunction drugs, has fallen to 74.5 percent. Cialis, introduced last November by Eli Lilly and the drug maker Icos, has 13.9 percent, and Levitra, introduced last August by Bayer Pharmaceuticals and GlaxoSmithKline, has 11.6 percent.
The $100 million venture, with the motto of "Get back to mischief," began Tuesday and features the ends of the blue V from Viagra's brand logo rising behind men's heads like a pair of horns.
