Viagra for female sexual dysfunction in on the cards
Wednesday, December 21, 2005 After providing Viagra
for the treatment of mail erectile dysfunction that transformed
the sexual lives of men, pharma major Pfizer is now developing a
drug for female sexual dysfunction. According to Mr. Peter Ellis,
Executive Director Pfizer Global Research and Development, the company
is at present working on three different molecules for this purpose
which is at various stages of trial.
Phase II trial of one such drug is being conducted on hundreds
of women suffering from female sexual dysfunction in UK, Netherlands
and Scandinavian countries while the other two drugs are in the
phase I trial stage. It’s too early to claim anything but
if nothing goes wrong, a drug to treat female sexual dysfunction
would be available by 2012.
