Sales of Viagra and other ED drugs are on a decline
December 06, 2005
In recent times, a decline has been noticed in
the sales of erectile dysfunction (ED)
drugs such as Viagra, Cialis
and Levitra. This change in sales
figures is due to the fact that fewer men are willing to use these
medications as the often televised commercials for the products
have become less effective. The combined worldwide sales of the
three ED drugs - Viagra, Cialis and Levitra has reached about US$2.5
billion ($3.5 billion) last year but the number of new prescriptions
has declined this year, including a 10 per cent drop in October,
2005.
A huge number of male population suffers
from ED yet only about 15 per cent of them get prescriptions
for Viagra, Cialis or Levitra in a given year. But in some cases,
the ED drugs are used for other purposes. In recent times, the so-called
recreational use of the drugs like Viagra
by younger men has witnessed a dramatic increase. The abuse
and misuse of Viagra is a cause of concern as it can be immensely
harmful for health.
