Impotence mostly hints at heart problems
January 24, 2006
Impotence
is often considered as merely a lifestyle problem but a University
of Chicago study has found that impotence also can be a warning
sign for heart disease. Researchers found that the link between
impotence and heart disease is stronger than that of any other known
risk factor, including smoking, family history and high blood pressure.
A second study reported on Monday found that nearly one in five
American men over the age of 20 are impotent. The rate ranges from
3.8 percent of men in their 30s to 77.5 percent of men of age 75
or older. Impotence is highly prevalent, and men should not feel
embarrassed if they suffer from it as a varied range of treatments
are available in the form of erectile dysfunction medications such
as Viagra, Cialis
and Levitra.
