Upcoming Female sexual arousal drugs targets her brain
July 14, 2005
The first female sexual arousal drugs will target
the women's grey matter for sexual stimulation. Researchers believe
that sexual feelings arise from the brain of a woman. For treating
male erectile dysfunction, the
ED drug Viagra focuses on men's vascular system.
Procter & Gamble, BioSante and Palatin technologies are in their
mid stages of developing the female drug equivalent to Viagra.
Intrinsa [P&G] and Libigel [BioSante] will enter the drug market
as testosterone drugs. The new class of drugs, which works on the
central nervous system, is PT-141 developed by Palatin technologies.
The Journal of American Medical association estimates 43 percent
of sexually dissatisfied women as compared to 31 percent men, which
indicates a highesr market value for the female sexual arousal drug.
